about
randi
Randi Haskins is a Licensed Physical Therapist
and has extensive training in techniques such as Upledger CranioSacral Therapy, Myofascial
Release, Muscle Energy, Upledger Visceral Mobilization
(Organ Specific Fascial Mobilization), Positional Release and Massage.
She is proficient in postural rebalancing and movement reeducation
and has studied with such notable teachers as Robin McKenzie,
Florence Kendell, Shirley Sarnehman, and Michael Lee of Phoenix
Rising Yoga Therapy. She is certified in Kripalu Massages and as
a Kripalu Yoga Teacher. Randi has been a teaching assistant regularly for the Upledger
Institute in the first 4 levels of CranioSacral Therapy and the first 4 levels of the Visceral
curriculum with the Barrral Institute. She has led CranioSacral Therapy and Visceral Mobilization Study
Groups for practitioners to improve their skills.
Randi was the Staff Physical Therapist at Kripalu Center for Yoga
and Health from 1986-1990, working with many of the over 300 residents.
Additionally, she referred residents to many local area practitioners
to deal with various health concerns, including structural dysfunction.
She referred residents to such varied practitioners as Macrobiotic
Counselors, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, surgeons and many other
professionals in the diverse health care field. She also had the
opportunity to experience the work of at least 100 practitioners
who came to donate their skills to the residents. This helped her
to schedule them with appropriate residents who needed bodywork,
movement therapy or other health care techniques.
Additionally, the Kripalu Resident Health and Guest Services Staff
had countless trainings in health related therapies. Through this
she received training in such areas as Bach Flower Essences, herbal
treatments, Homeopathic First Aid, Macrobiotic and Ayurvedic nutrition,
Polarity, and training in meditation, visualization and breathing techniques.
From all this diversity, Randi realized that manual therapy, especially techniques practiced by certain osteopathic doctors such as John Upledger, D.O., and Greg Blaney, M.D. (with whom she worked one-on-one), were the techniques she experienced as consistently effective, she enjoyed learning about, and wanted to master. Residents with varying problems from headaches to back pain to fibromyalgia often responded well to limited treatment with osteopathic work. These techniques were grounded in science and taught by highly trained professionals in the medical field. They seemed to get to the root of the problem, working with the tissues, joints and fluids with minimal force. It made sense to rebalance the body and treat causes as well as symptoms as these techniques/ practitioners did.
After Randi left Kripalu Center, she worked both at a local physical therapy
practice as well as for herself for several years until starting Darshan Physical Therapy in 1995. Darshan had offices in Williamstown and Gt. Barrington and served as a state of the art manual and physical therapy provider. Randi was Clinical Director and co-owner of Darshan from 1995 to 2005 which included overseeing all clinical treatment to clients. She oversaw training of manual therapy and therapeutic exercise techniques, including yoga and exercises to help clients with bone density issues, to the staff of physical therapists, physical therapy assistants and massage therapists. In 2005, Randi transitioned to a solo practice. She has continued her extensive training and teaching assisting since 1985.
Randi is a member of the International Association of Healthcare Practitioners and the Southern Berkshire Chamber of Commerce.
